Join Special Olympics Otago for a Basketball Have-a-Go Day — welcoming people of all abilities to try basketball, learn basic skills, and meet new people and have some fun!

Venue: Edgar Centre Dunedin
Who can attend: Open to people with intellectual disabilities, their families, carers, and supporters. All experience levels welcome
What to expect
Short skills sessions covering dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork
Small-sided games and fun drills adapted for all ability levels
Supportive coaches and volunteers offering one-on-one assistance
Chance to learn about Special Olympics Otago programs and how to get involved
Come along, have fun, and discover how basketball can build fitness, friendships, and confidence.

Snowsports T2 Ski Camp
This is our Regional Winter Games where athletes compete in several events such as Giant Slalom, Slalom and Super G. This event is only for those who have previously competed in a T1 Ribbon day which was held in 2024- If you wish to start your cycle to be eligible for the Regional Games and then the National Games you will need to wait until 2027.
MultiSport SONZ Event
Special Olympics New Zealand is hosting a multisport "Have a Go" event in Invercargill, offering participants the opportunity to try athletics and golf. This inclusive event is designed to encourage people with intellectual disabilities to experience these sports in a supportive and welcoming environment. Whether new to sport or looking to develop skills, you will enjoy expert guidance and the chance to connect with others within the Special Olympics community. You do not have to be a registered athlete of special olympics to come along.

This inclusive event provides a supportive environment for participants to try adaptive rowing, showcasing determination, teamwork, and community spirit.
